Privacy Policy

How we handle information when you contact the Chamber, apply for membership or use our website.

1. About this policy

This policy explains how Madaripur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI, the Chamber, we or us) handles information connected with this website, membership administration, events and enquiries.

It applies to visitors, applicants, member representatives and authorised website administrators. Separate notices or documents may apply to a particular service. Our Terms of Use explain the conditions for using this website.

2. Information we collect

  • Enquiries: your name, contact details, enquiry topic, subject, message and any information you choose to provide.
  • Membership information: business name, address, sector, business type, trade licence details, establishment year, membership tier and information about your nominated representative.
  • Supporting documents: documents requested for membership, which may include a trade licence, TIN certificate, representative’s national identity document and passport-size photograph.
  • Member and committee records: directory/profile information, appointment details, membership validity and historical records needed to administer Chamber activities.
  • Administrative access: account identifiers, sign-in information and access permissions for authorised administrators.
  • Technical information: information processed when the website and its providers handle requests, such as IP address, browser/device information and error or security logs.

Please provide only information needed for your request. Do not send passwords, account recovery codes, payment-card details or unnecessary identity documents through an enquiry form.

3. How information is used

  • Review and administer membership applications, renewals and supporting information.
  • Respond to enquiries and communicate about the services, events or updates you request.
  • Maintain business profiles, the member directory and executive committee records.
  • Organise Chamber activities and facilitate relevant business connections.
  • Operate the website, manage authorised access, investigate misuse and maintain records.
  • Address applicable recordkeeping obligations, lawful requests and disputes.

Submitting an application does not automatically approve membership or subscribe you to a mailing service. Where a service needs additional information or a separate permission, this should be explained when it is requested.

4. Public directory and profiles

The member directory and committee pages are public. Business names, sectors, business contact details, profile descriptions, website links, representative photographs and committee roles selected for publication may be visible to visitors and indexed by search engines.

National identity and tax-document uploads are requested to support membership administration, not for publication in the directory. Please contact the Chamber if you believe sensitive or inaccurate information has appeared publicly, or if you want to discuss the contact details shown on your profile.

Provide business contact details intended for public use wherever possible. You must have authority to submit information or photographs relating to another person.

5. Sharing and service providers

Information may be handled by authorised Chamber personnel and service providers as needed for the purposes described above. The website currently uses Google Firebase for authentication and database services, Cloudinary for uploaded media/documents, and Vercel for hosting.

Some document previews and map features may involve Google services. Following external links or using a third-party feature can allow that provider to receive information needed to deliver the feature. Its own privacy terms also apply.

Information may also be disclosed where required by applicable law, to respond to a lawful request, or where reasonably necessary to address a dispute or protect rights and safety. Public profile information is shared through the public pages described above.

Providers may process or store information outside Bangladesh. The location and handling of that information depend on the relevant provider and service configuration.

6. Cookies and device permissions

Administrative sign-in uses session cookies and related authentication functionality. Website providers may also use storage or technical information needed to deliver their services. You can control cookies and site storage in your browser; blocking them may prevent sign-in or other features from working.

The installable app may save public reference pages and static assets for offline use. Public membership-tier data is stored persistently in Firestore browser storage only after trusted-device consent. These copies can be outdated and remain on the device between sessions. Use App & offline settings to turn saving off and clear public data. Private records, authentication responses and administrative actions are not saved in the service worker cache.

If you choose to take a photograph through an upload feature, your browser may request camera permission. You can decline that permission and use a supported file upload instead, or manage permissions through your browser settings.

If optional analytics, advertising or other non-essential tracking is introduced, the applicable notice and choices should be provided before it is used where required.

7. Retention and protection

Records are retained according to their purpose and applicable administrative, accounting, legal and dispute-related needs. There is no single retention period for every enquiry, application, uploaded document or membership record.

Committee history may remain after an appointment ends. Archiving an appointment does not, by itself, delete the underlying member record. Backups or records subject to a retention obligation may also remain after an information-change request.

Administrative tools require sign-in. However, no internet service or transmission method can eliminate all risk. If you are concerned about submitting an identity document online, contact the Chamber to discuss an appropriate submission method.

8. Your requests and choices

You may contact the Chamber to ask about your information, request corrections, discuss removal of a public profile detail, request deletion where appropriate, or change your communication preferences. Any rights available under applicable law continue to apply.

We may need to verify your identity or authority before responding. A request may need to be limited where information must be retained, relates to another person, or is needed for an ongoing administrative or legal matter. Withdrawing information needed for an application may affect our ability to process it.

For a privacy request, use the contact details below and describe the relevant record or concern. Do not include a complete identity document in your initial email unless the Chamber specifically asks for it through an appropriate channel.

9. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as website features, providers or information-handling practices change. The date at the top identifies the latest revision. Where a change requires an additional notice or choice under applicable law, that requirement continues to apply.
